Meet Chappy
John "Chappy" Chapman
Chef John Chapman is now serving the community in Orange Beach, Alabama and his flavorful menu items have arrived with him at Pier House Orange Beach.
"Chappy" as he is affectionately known, owned Chappy's Seafood Restaurant in Long Beach for more than 20 years. He, and his wife Starr Chapman, currently also serve customers at Rum Kitchen in Waveland, MS. Chappy was the head chef at Chappy's Bistro at the Almanett Hotel.
Chappy has been through it all on the Gulf Coast, and he is a true local. "I lost everything in Katrina, my home and my restaurant, but we don't ask why; we don't get depressed about it," said Chapman"We just try to move on, like everyone else."
Chappy relocated to Nashville, TN after Katrina, where he opened a new restaurant. All the while he longed to be here on the Gulf Coast.
Customers have said of Chappy, "He puts all of the coast into his cooking, for those people who visit the coast. You cannot come visit the coast without coming to see Chappy,"
Chappy uses all fresh ingredients. He believes cooking is much more than a hobby."My inspirations from love honey. I cook with love that's the difference. So we try to cook dishes that have traditional Creole ties then give them a current flip," said Chapman.
John "Chappy" Chapman has created a unique experience at the beach - a restaurant that focuses on the food, the experience, and the service. Its comfortable, classy dinning that is not rushed. The facility has a great art facility, and specialty cocktails you can't get anywhere else.
Chappy says "Come see us at Pier House Orange Beach!"
